Towards a Platonic critique of ideology

Plato is accused by some of being a totalitarian, “top-down” thinker, claim that linked not just to his politics but philosophical proclivities more generally. This essay will argue Plato’s method and metaphysics collectively provide few avenues for questioning this outcome. I think Socratic-style provides resistance hegemonic carapaced metaphysics, moreover would there greater coherence between positive teaching than allowed some. Through an engagement with central Platonic doctrines, namely account dialogue, the transcendental Good, as well participation, recollection, it argued relational does fit seamlessly into “ideological” or “naïve” rendering intellectual intuition, exclusionary dualism material spiritual substance, uncritical evocation “innate ideas,” and, moreover, allows plurality perspectives, all ordered towards deeper realism unity within Good Beyond Being.
